Swimming & Diving: Meet Day Preview vs. Staten Island and Felician

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams return home Saturday afternoon for a meet.

MEET INFO
The women's team will face Felician and the College of Staten Island, while the men's team battles CSI only. The event, which will be held in the Panzer Pool, begins at noon.

MEN'S LAST TIME OUT
RYAN KAPPES opened the final session of the F&M Invitational with a seventh-place time of 16:53.53 in the 1,650-freestyle, as rookie SEAN NUGENT was 13th in 17:53.18. DENNIS DELARGY narrowly missed the "C" finals in the 200-backstroke, as he touched the wall in 2:02.61. He was clipped by .26 seconds, as GREG KARBACK was right behind him in 2:04. LUCAS GOMES placed 11th in the 100-free style, clocking in at 47.66. The team also had two swimmers make the "B" finals in the 200-breaststroke. SPENSER DUBOIS was 13th in 2:10.65, with BRANDON DO placing 15th in 2:14.7. TYLER DORSETT qualified for the "B" finals in the 200-fly, notching a preliminary time of 1:58.98, which was 1.13 seconds off of the "A" finals mark. In the final round, Dorsett turned in a time of 1:58.74, which was good for 10th.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
Rookie Audrey Hitchins sat in fourth place on day one of the TCNJ Invitational. Competing in the 1-meter, 11 dives, Hitchins registered 295.75 over her 11 attempts. The score marks a season-high for the newcomer, who's previous 11-dive best was 166.00. EMMA BOWERS is currently in fifth, tallying 273.90 points. Bowers also recorded a career-best score, surpassing her 1-meter, 11-dive best of 227.31 set at the Metropolitan Championships last spring. Bowers placed fourth in the 3-meter dive Sunday, collecting 264.75 points on the day. Over the course of the 11 dives, the senior averaged 24.07 points per attempt.

SERIES HISTORY
The women's team has never swum Felician as they are a first-year program but are 4-0 against CSI. Their closest score was a 144-122 triumph in 2019, as the men are also 4-0 against the Dolphins. They came away with a 117-100 decision on November 11, 2017, for their closest meet.

The Red Hawks return to the Panzer Pool in 2023 to host FDU-Florham at 4 pm January 17.
