Swimming & Diving Notches Wins In 2022 Finale

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State swimming and diving teams picked up three wins Saturday afternoon to close out the 2022 portion of their schedule Saturday.
 
The men's team topped Staten Island 122-87 as the women's side knocked off Staten Island (151-74) and Felician (148-75).
 
MEN'S RECAP
  • Montclair opened the day with the top two spots in the 200-medley relay, with DENNIS DELARGY, BRANDON DO, JOHN ENGLERT, and DANIEL BARTSEVICH finishing first in 1:40.36. CHRYSTIAN MUHLEISEN, LUCAS MIGLIN, ADRIAN GONZALEZ, and JOSH ZITOMER were just behind them in 1:44.09.
  • SEAN NUGENT claimed first in the 1,000-free (10:27.94) as TYLER DORSETT and RYAN KAPPES nabbed the following two places. Kappes notched a victory in the 200-free (1:48.99), edging teammate ANTHONY FERRARO (1:49.97).
  • Do made it two wins as he clipped William Kwan by 1.63 seconds in the 200-IM, finishing in 2:01.07. Englert grabbed a victory in the 100-butterfly (54.83) before DeLargy tallied a first-place time of 55.00 in the 100-back.
  • Kappes, Miglin, and Nugent went 1-2-3 500-freestyle, with Kappes clocking in at 4:57.25 to close out the victories for the Red Hawks.
WOMEN'S RECAP
  • Like men, the women's side took the top-two places in the opening 200-medley relay. SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, ABBY BROCK, CATTY GEYER, and ROURKE PERALTA finished in 1:54.16, as ERIN BARRETT, LILI SHAY, MADELINE ROGERS, and JULIA WEINREB were second in 2:00.38.
  • JULIE TIEDEMANN won the 1,000-freestyle (11:16.91) as KATE CIPOLETTI notched a first-place time of 2:01.44 in the 200-free.
  • Juliet di Pasquale, Shay, and SARAH BENT went 1-2-3 in the 200-IM, with di Pasquale edging Shay 2:22.19-2:22.74. Rogers picked up a win in the 100-fly (1:04.54) before Shopovick earned a win in the 100-back (1:02.73).
  • Cipoletti made it two individual victories, notching a first-place mark of 5:31.99 in the 500-freestyle to finish off the victories for the Red Hawks. Audrey Hitchins was second in the six dives, scoring 127.30 points before EMMA BOWERS took second in 11-dives with a mark of 173.5.

The Red Hawks return to the pool in 2023, hosting FDU-Florham on January 17 at 4 pm.
