Montclair, NJ – All five starters scored double figures to lead the Montclair State women's basketball to an 84-67 win over Rutgers-Camden Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rutgers-Camden jumped out to an early lead, and a jumper by Carleigh Galasso extended the lead to 13-9 with 3:26 left in the opening quarter. The visitors didn't score again in the frame as Montclair embarked on a 12-0 run.
  • During the run, TERESA WOLAK had five points, and SHANNON HUGHES drained a key three-pointer to give the Red Hawks a 21-13 lead entering the second period.
  • Camden cut the advantage to five before seven straight Montclair markers, capped off by Wolak's layup, pushed the deficit to double digits. Hughes and Carter hit triples late in the period, but Rutgers-Camden scored five points in the final seven seconds to trail 48-31 going into halftime.
  • The Red Hawks shot 56.25% from the floor in the first half, including an 11-of-17 clip (64.71%) in the second quarter.
  • The Scarlet Raptors kept fighting back, whittling the gap to 10 at 54-44 on the heels of a 9-2 run that spanned five minutes in the third. Montclair finished the frame with the final four points, including a nifty layup from Hughes from a feed from Carter.
  • Montclair led 66-47 after a Wolak bucket, but Rutgers-Camden brought the game to nine on a Jalissa Pitts jumper. The Red Hawks didn't let them get any closer, as they closed the game on a 13-5 rally.
