After Haverford, the Red Hawks welcome defending MAC Freedom Champion FDU-Florham to Sprague Field Wednesday before
their first road affair at Misericordia next Saturday. The team returns home for four straight contests from March 9-19 before visiting Hood on March 26. NJAC play opens on April 9, as they face TCNJ. The two sides split the series last year, with Montclair winning the first game for their first-ever win against TCNJ. The Lions responded with a victory in the NJAC Championship Game. The following afternoon, MSU hosts Colorado College before welcoming Rutgers-Camden (April 16) and Ramapo (April 19) to campus. The season concludes with road games at Stockton (April 23) and Kean (April 26) before closing out the regular season against Rowan on April 30.

PRESEASON RANKING
Montclair State was ranked second in the NJAC Preseason Poll, slotting in behind defending champion TCNJ. The Red Hawks will also open the campaign ranked 19th overall in Nike/USA Lacrosse Poll.

2021 SEASON IN REVIEW
The Red Hawks went 8-1 last season, including a perfect 5-0 mark in the NJAC. One of the highlights was a come-from-behind
victory against Stockton in the regular season. Trailing 13-8 with 8:40 to go, the Red Hawks scored the final five goals in regulation to force overtime. Goalkeeper ALLYN LILIEN made a pair of saves in the overtime, and BRITTANY COSTIGAN scored the game-winner off a feed from AMBER GONZALEZ with one second left to give MSU the win. The Red Hawks won the NJAC Semifinals matchup against Stockton 20-10 but fell to TCNJ 16-6 in the Championship Game.

TOP RETURNERS
The Red Hawks return one of their three All-Americans from last year in goalkeeper ALLYN LILIEN. Lilien, who won NJAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors, gained First Team All-NJAC honors for the first time in her career. The goalkeeper matched the school record with 25 saves as the Red Hawks topped TCNJ 10-9 for their first-ever win over the Lions in program history. A two-time IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week choice, Lilien was 8-1, making 110 saves and led the NJAC in goals-against average (7.96) and save percentage (.604). Second Team IWLCA All-Region selection TRISTIN KONEN also returns to aid the midfield. Konen had a breakout season in 2021, pumping in a team-high 32 goals while adding five assists and 23 draw controls. She opened the season with five goals in a win over Immaculata and was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week. Other key contributors that are back include AMBER GONZALEZ (10 goals, seven assists), RHIANNON BROWN (13 goals, six assists), MORGAN CONNON (5 goals, eight assists), and HALEY DORAN (9 goals, five assists). The defensive unit will feature CLAUDIA FRYE (5 caused turnovers and six ground balls) and KATHERINE YARUSSO (12 ground balls, eight caused turnovers).

WELCOME TO MSU
The Red Hawks bring in nine newcomers to the roster this season, with attackers HAYLEE ROLLER and CHELSEA STACK expected to make an immediate impact on the offensive side of the ball. Stack is from Margate City, NJ, as Roller hails from Lincoln Park, NJ. Defender TRINITY TOEROCK and MARGIE QUINTANA are new on the defensive side of the ball, as the team also welcomes back KAITLIN ZAZZARO, who did not play last season.
