Brown Records 100th Career Point as MSU Rolls on Senior Night

Senior Scores Six Goals in 21-4 Win Over Ramapo

Montclair, NJ – On Senior Night, Montclair State got plenty of contributions from theirs as the Red Hawks raced past Ramapo for their second straight victory, 20-4 at Sprague Field on Tuesday evening.

RHIANNON BROWN scored six goals and registered the 100th point of her career for MSU (6-5, 2-1 NJAC) which got six goals from Tristen Konen and three goals and three assists from Kaitlin Arcede. MORGAN CONNON (one assist), HALEY DORAN (one assist) and KARLI NEVARD each had two goals with also recorded two helpers.

The Roadrunners struck first with a goal 45 seconds into the contest, however Montclair countered with the next seven. Connon tied it up two minutes after the Ramapo goal and an Arcede tally with 9:15 left giving MSU the lead. Konen connected for her first with Brown's first goal with under five minutes left making the score, 4-1. Konen found the back of the net again, but that was answered by Ramapo's Colleen Mason 22 seconds later for a 5-2 Red Hawk advantage. Nevard scored two of the next three goals for Montclair State, the last with 37 ticks remaining as MSU led 8-2 after one period.

The Red Hawks tallied seven of the eight goals in the second quarter to pull away. Brown opened the scoring and Konen had three in a row as the MSU grew to 12-2 with 10:44 to play in the period. Ramapo would get one back, however Arcede scored with 7:09 left with Brown and Doran closing out the half with goals as Montclair State led 15-3 at the break.

Brown reached her milestone mark with 8:49 remaining in the third quarter with an unassisted goal sparking the start of what would be a game-ending 6-0 run by MSU

Katilin Zazzaro forced five turnovers and recorded four ground balls. Connon, MAEVE CARNEY and NJAC Defensive Player of the Week CLAUDIA FRYE had three caused turnovers.  Goalkeeper ALLYN LILIEN made eight saves.   

The Red Hawks continue their NJAC schedule on Friday, April 22 on the road at Stockton. First draw in Galloway, NJ is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
