Women's Lacrosse Falls to Rowan, Misses Out on NJAC Tournament

Arcede with Three Goals; Konen Notches 100th Career Goal

Montclair, NJ – Rowan University's Ashley Lechliter and Elie Cohan each scored four goals as the Profs pulled way in the second half for an 18-7 victory over Montclair State on Saturday afternoon.

Jamie Cutrera added three goals for the Profs (9-7, 5-1 NJAC), who clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming conference tournament which begins on Wednesday, May 4 with semifinal contests.

Senior KAITLYN ARCEDE scored three times for Red Hawks, who finished the regular-season at 7-7- overall. The loss also eliminated MSU from the conference tournament as its finished in a three-way tie with Kean and Stockton for the final two spots at 3-3 but missed out on the tirebreaker criteria.

Arcede gave Montclair a 1-0 lead 44 seconds into the game as she scored unassisted. The Profs countered with four consecutive goals, including two by Cohan and led 4-1 when Erin Renshaw found the back of the net with 5:37 left. MORGAN CONNON got a goal back for the Red Hawks, however the Profs tacked on another three to go up 7-2 on Molly Green's goal with 4:21 remaining.

Montclair would battle back as Arcede registered her second a minute later. Tristen Konen whipped a shot from the right side with 96 seconds to play for her 100th career goals and a RHIANNON BROWN scored with three seconds left helped MSU trim the deficit to 7-5 at halftime.

Juliana Corson and Konen traded goals to open the first half before the Profs pulled away with 11 of the final 12 goals in the contests. Erin Renshaw ignited a four-goal run with Cutrera scoring twice as Rowan went up 12-6.  Arcede ended that with her third goal, however Lechliter tallied with 10 seconds left as the Profs took a 13-7 lead into the final quarter.

Connon totaled five draws in the game with HALEY DORAN adding three along with three ground balls and a caused turnover. Konen forced a pair of turnovers with KARLI NEVARD pulling in three draw control. Goalkeeper ALLYN LILIEN stopped nine shots.
