Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team fell to Stockton University 25-8 in the CSAC Championship Game Saturday afternoon.
MIKE MCCREERY and
MATT DANCSECS led MSU with a pair of goals as the Red Hawks close out their season with a 12-5 mark. Stockton, was led by seven goals from Luc Swedlund, claimed the CSAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Ospreys controlled the game from the jump, scoring the first six goals over the first 6:06 of the contest.
MIKE MCCREERY stopped the run with an unassisted tally, but Stockton finished off the first period with the final five goals. During the first period, Swedlund and Sean Hannock recorded hat tricks to help the top-seeded Ospreys gain an advantage they did not relinquish.
In the second quarter,
CHRISTIAN BOYLE got the Red Hawks on the board, converting a feed from
TYLER MCCREERY after Stockton scored the first two markers. Stockton closed out the half with the final four goals after leading in every stats category. They outshot Montclair 31-11 in the first half and forced 17 Red Hawk turnovers.
Montclair began the third with two consecutive goals, as
TYLER MCCREERY and
MIKE MCCREERY registered man-up tallies. The Ospreys answered back with five of their own before
MATT DANCSECS ended the rally with an unassisted tally. Both sides notched three goals in the fourth period, with Montclair receiving goals from
CONNOR GABILANES,
AIDAN MAXWELL, and Dancsecs.
TYLER MCCREERY tallied three points, finishing the season with a program-best 105 points on the season.
Maxwell and
DAVID METZGER forced two turnovers apiece, with Metzger making 10 saves. Maxwell, Metzger, Dancsecs,
TYLER MCCREERY, and
AIDAN LONG picked up three ground balls. Dante Poli notched nine points, while Haddock had six in the win for Stockton.
