Volleyball: Gameday Preview vs. Rowan

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team hosts Rowan University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action Thursday.

GAME INFO
The first serve inside the Panzer Athletic Center is scheduled for 7 pm, with live stats and video links available on montclairathletics.com. Video can also be found on the Red Hawk Sports Network YouTube Channel.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (5-6, 1-1 NJAC) outlasted Ramapo College in five sets for their first NJAC victory of the season Tuesday. GIANNA ARIAS tallied a career-high 15 kills while EMILY CARCICH handed out 61 assists. The 61 helpers were the third-most in program history, and Carcich was the first to notch 60+ assists in a match since 2007.

SCOUTING ROWAN
Rowan is 11-1 on the season and a perfect 2-0 within the NJAC. They opened the season with 10 consecutive victories before dropping a 3-0 decision to Eastern on September 17. The Profs rebounded with a five-set win over Stockton on Tuesday night and fought back from a 6-1 deficit in the fifth and deciding frame.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State is 18-14 all-time against Rowan but has dropped the last four meetings. Their previous victory came on October 31, 2017, when they notched a 3-1 win in the NJAC First Round in the Panzer Athletic Center.


LAST MEETING
Montclair dropped a five-set thriller in the NJAC Championship to Rowan in their last matchup on November 6, 2021. Montclair State held a 2-1 advantage and led 14-12 in the fifth, but Rowan fended off five match points before claiming the win. LEAH HIGGINS and DELANEY ST. PIERRE tallied double-doubles in the setback.
