Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

No. 23 Men's Soccer Draws with Catholic, 1-1

Washington DC – Senior JOSIAH CRAWFORD netted his first goal of the season as the No. 23 Montclair State men's soccer team drew with Catholic 1-1 in the Turk Emekli Classic Sunday.

ENIR RADONCIC was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player, as the Red Hawks and Cardinals both went 1-0-1 during the event. Catholic was Tournament winner via goal differential over MSU.

The Red Hawks had some good scoring chances early, including Crawford getting stopped on a try in 17th minute. Montclair State was able to break through in the 24th minute, as Crawford put the team in front. The senior launched a right-footed shot that eluded the goalkeeper and went into the far-right corner of the goal for his opening marker of the year.

After SHANE KEENAN denied a scoring try in the 29th minute, the Cards nearly leveled the game in the 32nd minute. Owen Maher thought he had a goal, but a Red Hawk defender swept the ball off the line and out for corner kick. Radoncic had a pair of opportunities late in the half off set pieces, but neither try was on target.

The Cardinals capitalized on a turnover in the 48th minute, as Gordie Berniohr moved in a breakaway and evened the game at one for his second goal of the year. Radoncic hit the post with an attempt in the 54th minute before Crawford's 55th minute shot was stopped by Austin Coron. As the second half moved on, EVAN CHACON placed three shots that were denied while JANBI KAGHADO recorded a pair of shots late in the game that were denied by Coron.

Keenan made three saves in the tie, while Crawford led MSU with five shots.

Montclair State heads to the West Coast, battling the University of La Verne Thursday evening. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm local time, 10 pm Eastern time.
