Field Hockey Falls At Home to DeSales

Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State field hockey team fell to DeSales 3-0 in non-conference action Wednesday night.

The Red Hawks controlled the possession in the game's early stages, including shots on goal from CARLIE VAN TASSEL and TORI SUTERA. The Bulldogs were able to put their only shot on goal of the period in the back of the cage with 14 seconds remaining. Catie McGrath dribbled in and unleashed a shot that evaded the goalkeeper for the 1-0 lead.

LAUREN PICKUL kept it a 1-0 margin as she denied Sarah Peterson 1:33 into the second stanza, but DeSales doubled their lead in the 23rd minute. This time, Jordyne Strong beat Pickul and made it 2-0 in favor of the visitors. Despite trailing at the break, Montclair State was even on shots (7-7), shots on goal (5-5), and penalty corners (5-5).

Just 3:13 into the third period, DeSales added an additional tally as Strong sent a pass over the goalkeeper's stick. Tyra Wingle was on the doorstep and scored for her third marker of the season. Nearly six minutes later, Wingle tried for another goal, but Pickul stopped her shot. Pickul kept the deficit at three in the fourth quarter, making five saves.

CARLIE VAN TASSEL led the Red Hawks with four shots on goal, while Pickul denied 10 shots in the cage.

The Red Hawks return to action Saturday, hosting Franklin & Marshall at 5 pm.
