Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University field hockey team downed Arcadia 4-1 on Monday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights came out on the offensive early in the game, but Montclair goalkeeper MCKENNA LAMAN denied four Arcadia shots in the first quarter to keep the game scoreless.
- The Red Hawks (6-9) broke through early in the second quarter to take a 1-0 lead. Off a scrum in front, junior GAB MAISTO poked the ball in past the keeper to snap the scoreless game.
- The lead doubled in the 22nd minute as freshman SAMI BLOOM rifled a shot that glanced off the goalie's blocker and went in. With under four minutes left in the half, the Knights cut the lead in half on a deflection in front.
- Arcadia nearly tied the game 1:14 into the third, but CARLY AMERMAN was there to clear the ball off the line. Montclair made it 3-1 1:01 later, with Bloom redirecting the shot from Maisto.
- The Red Hawks finished scoring in the fourth, as CARLIE VAN TASSEL reverse-chipped a pass from Maisto, extending the gap to 4-1. The defense clamped down and did not surrender a shot in the fourth quarter to preserve the victory.

- Montclair outshot Arcadia 17-10.
- Laman made six saves, one off of her season-high.
- Bloom tallied the first multi-goal game of her career, joining Van Tassel as the lone Red Hawks with two goals.
