Glenside, Pa. - The No. 9 Montclair State University women's soccer team topped Arcadia University 2-1 on Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montclair peppered the Knights with chances early, as KERRI DRISCOLL had a header go wide in the seventh minute. JULIE BAKER and AILEEN CAHILL also had tries just go wide early in the match.
- Off a free kick in the 21st minute, EMMI DENOVELLIS served a ball in on frame that the goalkeeper bobbled. The keeper recovered and picked it up before it crossed the goal line.
- The Knights goalkeeper made a sprawling denial on NICOLE RICCI in the 33rd minute before the Red Hawks scored 39 seconds later. KYLIE PRENDERGAST slipped a pass to Cahill just inside the 18. The senior turned and fired low, beating a diving goalkeeper far post to give Montclair a 1-0 lead.
- The Red Hawks doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute. Off a short corner, the ball returned to O'Callahan, who served in a perfect cross to the far post. KELLY FITZGERALD was there and headed it past the goalie, putting Montclair up 2-0.
- Montclair almost made it three after DeNovellis' long shot was parried off the crossbar and out. The Knights cut the deficit in half thanks to a header off a corner kick in the 71st minute.

- Cahill led the Red Hawks with nine shots.
- Prendergast finished with five shots, as O'Callahan added four.
- Montclair outshot the Knights 30-4, including 10-1 on frame.
