Men's Basketball Rolls Past Penn State-Abington

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University men's basketball team outscored Penn State-Abington 65-34 in the second half en route to a 98-67 triumph on Tuesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 7-3 advantage early before a triple from KYREE HENRY made it 9-8 Montclair. Neither side led by four the rest of the first half, as a 5-0 run from Penn State-Abington made it 28-24.
  • With Montclair up 35-34 in the second half, the Red Hawks pushed the lead to double digits with a 9-0 spurt. The Nittany Lions chipped the deficit to eight, but consecutive threes from KUNGA TSERING and SAMAR ABDULLAH made it 14.
  • A traditional three-point play from KEYON PRYCE bumped the margin to 20 with 9:16 remaining in the second half. Tsering kick-started a 7-0 rally with five straight markers, including an alley-oop dunk from Henry.
  • The margin swelled to 30 late in the contest, as SHANE RYAN had three free throws and HENRY MEYERS added a three-pointer and a layup. DYLAN COQ capped off the game with a jumper in the paint with 18 seconds remaining to establish the final margin.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Pryce led the Red Hawks with 19 points as Tsering added 13 and seven rebounds.
  • MIKE JACKSON tallied 12 points and nine boards, as Abdullah poured in 11 off the bench.
  • The Red Hawk reserves outscored Penn State-Abington's 43-8 and out-rebounded the Nittany Lions 44-33.

UP NEXT
The Red Hawks head to Pennsylvania for the Al Senavitis Tournament, hosted by DeSales University, on December 29-30. Montclair will face Muhlenberg College on the 29th, with the game time scheduled for 7 pm in Center Valley, Pa.
