Preview | Women's Basketball vs. Albright

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University women's basketball team hosts Albright to tip-off the second day of the Mike Scala Memorial Classic on Sunday afternoon.

DAY 2 INFORMATION
Tip-off inside the Panzer Athletic Center is scheduled for 12 pm, with live stats and video links available on montclairathletics.com. Arcadia and Ursinus meet in the second game of the day at 2 pm.

TOURNAMENT INFORMATION
Mike Scala, who served as the Director of Sports Publicity at Montclair from 1999-2022, passed away after a multi-year battle with cancer in August of 2022. Mike's presence on game day is greatly missed. He supported all athletic programs at his alma mater, and the Montclair State women's basketball program wanted to commemorate Mike's honor and celebrate his legacy by naming the Holiday Classic after him.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (5-7, 3-3 NJAC) fell to Ursinus 53-46 on Saturday afternoon to open the Mike Scala Memorial Classic. After trailing by double-digits, Montclair battled back to take the lead at the end of the third quarter behind key baskets from TERESA WOLAK and ALEXIS STROLLO. The Red Hawks scored the opening basket of the fourth, but were outscored 14-4 down the stretch. ISABELLA ORLANDO led Montclair with 12 points, and Wolak scored 11 in 18 minutes off the bench.

SCOUTING ALBRIGHT
The Lions enter Sunday's contest with a 3-7 record. They opened the season with wins two of their first three games, but have dropped six of their last seven. They fell to Arcadia 81-73 on Saturday afternoon in their tournament opener at the Panzer Athletic Center.

SERIES HISTORY
Sunday afternoon's clash will be the third meeting between the schools and first since the 2018-19 season. Albright leads the all-time series 2-1 and claimed the most recent meeting 57-45.

LAST MEETING
Albright defeated Montclair 57-45 on the second day of the St. Petersburg Classic on December 20, 2018. Alex McKinnon led Montclair with 20 points, and Kayla Bush tallied seven points and nine boards, but the Lions closed the game on a 10-point run after the Red Hawks brought the margin to two with five minutes remaining.

The Red Hawks open their 2024 slate next Saturday as they host Stockton University at 1 pm inside the Panzer Athletic Center.
