Galloway, NJ – The No. 2 Stockton University men's basketball team edged No. 3 Montclair 91-86 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Semifinals Tuesday.

The Ospreys (22-4) advanced to the NJAC Championship Game, where they will meet top-seeded Rowan University Friday night. The Red Hawks (22-5) must wait for the NCAA Selection Show Monday afternoon to see if they have earned an at-large bid to the Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Ospreys opened the game with 10 of the first 13 points over the first 2:50 before Montclair got the next three back. FRANCISCO PAULINO netted a layup before MIKE JACKSON hit a free throw, bringing the score to 10-6.
  • SAMAR ABDULLAH drained consecutive three-pointers in 14 seconds, turning a seven-point deficit to just one. The Ospreys reeled off six straight points before STEVEN BREEMAN stopped the rally with a layup plus one from the charity stripe.
  • The Red Hawks made it a one-possession game before Stockton responded with five straight tallies from DJ Campbell. The advantage grew to double-figures with 7:04 left in the opening period before Jackson brought it back to nine with a pull-up jumper.
  • Montclair State got to within two on the heels of a 9-2 run, polished off with a jumper from Breeman. The Ospreys took a 51-45 lead into halftime behind 26 points from Campbell.

  • The Ospreys held Montclair scoreless for 3:12, using a 7-0 spurt to extend their advantage to eight before Breeman halted the rally with two free throws. A Kyion Flanders three-pointer with 9:07 left pushed the Stockton margin to 10 at 76-66, forcing Montclair into a timeout.
  • Montclair State wasn't finished yet, embarking on a 10-2 run over a 3:09 stretch to claw back to within two at 78-76. The Red Hawks pulled even at 78 as KIERAN FLANAGAN dumped a pass to Breeman, who finished the layup.
  • Flanders knocked down an open three-pointer with 5:16 left, but neither side could score over the next 2:07. Breeman was fouled shooting a three-pointer with 3:09 left and converted all three from the stripe to level things at 81.
