Stockton Tops Women's Basketball

Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State women's basketball team fell to Stockton 65-45 in New Jersey Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Stockton took an 8-3 lead early in the first before TERESA WOLAK, and BRIANNA MONTAJES netted three points apiece to start a 9-0 spurt. A three-pointer from rookie SHANNON HUGHES polished off the run.
  • Montclair took a slim 18-17 lead into the second as NICKIE CARTER finished the first quarter scoring with a three-pointer.
  • ISABELLA ORLANDO extended the Montclair State lead to six with a jumper in the paint with 5:31 to go in the opening half, but the Ospreys finished the second stanza with a 13-0 spurt to grab a seven-point advantage at halftime.
  • The hosts held Montclair scoreless over the first 7:24 of the third before Wolak stopped the rally with free throws. The two sides combined for only 21 points in the fourth quarter, as Hughes hit another three-pointer before MADELYN MCCREA capped the scoring with 25 seconds left.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Carter paced Montclair with 12 points while adding four rebounds and two steals.
  • Wolak tallied eight points with six boards as Hughes and Montajes combined for 10 markers.
  • A game-high 14 points led Stockton from Emma Morrone.
