Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's lacrosse fell to Misericordia 16-9 in their home opener Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cougars (2-3) took a 5-1 lead late in the first quarter before Montclair State (1-4) rebounded to tie the game at five. NORAH MONAGHAN had three goals during the run, including a buzzer-beating shot at the end of the first.
• Misericordia reeled off eight of the following nine markers, spanning the second and third periods. AMRA LUKOVIC netted the lone tally during the stretch. JOELLE D'ANGELO opened the fourth with a goal for Montclair State, as CHELSEA STACK and Monaghan registered man-down goals late in the game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Monaghan scored five goals and added an assist for the Red Hawks. The rookie added three draw controls and four ground balls.
• Midfielder LUCIANA FERRARA led the way with three caused turnovers, as OLIVIA DALLY, Monaghan, D'Angelo, and KAITLIN ZAZZARO had two.
