Holland Tallies Nine Points As Men's Lacrosse Tops Lycoming

Williamsport, Pa. – MATTHEW HOLLAND tallied nine points as the Montclair State men's lacrosse team doubled up Lycoming College 20-10 Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (4-3) jumped out to a 6-3 lead after one as Holland netted three goals in the opening frame. Montclair State tallied five straight markers bridging the first and second periods, opening up a 9-3 lead.
  • The Warriors snapped the run with a man-up marker before the Red Hawks polished off the first half with five of the final six goals. ETHAN MOUNIER registered two goals during the run as Holland collected two assists.
  • Montclair State continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Lycoming 5-0 in the third period. The Warriors cut into the deficit in the fourth, besting Montclair 5-1 in the final frame.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Holland's nine points are the most since TYLER MCCREERY had nine against Kean on May 3, 2022.
  • The Red Hawks netted 20 goals for the first time since potting 23 against Bryn Athyn on April 28, 2022.
  • Mounier scored three goals, as JOE COVINO, JACK CLEARY, and MATT DANCSECS recorded a pair.
  • All three goalkeepers saw action, with DAVID METZGER making six saves in the opening half. OWEN TORREY made one stop as BRANDON SHEVINS had five.

"Overall we shot the ball really well and we're able to settle in on defense to gain some momentum from the end of the first quarter and into the second to gain a comfortable lead. We are always excited about a win but understand we still need to keep working to become better everyday and every game." - Head Coach Matt Poskay.

The Red Hawks host No. 5 Salisbury in Coastal Lacrosse Conference action Tuesday, with the first faceoff at Sprague Field scheduled for 4 pm.
