Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University volleyball team opens the season against Centenary University on Friday.

The Red Hawks open the Greyhound Premiere Invitational, hosted by Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pa., at 6 pm. Video and live stats links will be available on montclairathletics.com.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks snapped a four-game losing skid in mid-September with a five-set victory over Ramapo for their first NJAC win of the season. EMILY CARCICH handed out 61 assists, becoming the first Red Hawk with 60+ assists since 2007. In a 3-0 triumph over NJCU, LEAH HIGGINS tallied her 1,000th career kill as the Red Hawks moved to 2-3 in the conference. Higgins became the program leader in career kills in the NJAC Quarterfinal win over Rutgers-Camden, surpassing Heather Aciz, who tallied 1,143.

SCOUTING CENTENARY
The Cyclones went 10-14 last season, including a 2-4 mark in the Atlantic East. They qualified for the Atlantic East Conference Tournament as the No. 6 seed but fell to No. 3 Neumann in the opening round.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair State is 10-1 all-time against Centenary, dropping just seven sets in those 11 matches. Centenary's lone win came on October 29, 2011, as they topped Montclair in five sets.

LAST MEETING
Montclair State knocked off Centenary 25=16. 25-9, 25-11 in their last meeting on October 30, 2013. Sara Girgus tallied 10 kills as Angela Campo paced the team with 28 assists and nine digs.
