Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University field hockey team fell to Lebanon Valley College 2-1 in double-overtime Friday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• LVC outshot Montclair 6-1 in the first quarter and broke through in the 11th minute as Lexi Ward netted the first goal. MCKENNA LAMAN kept it a one-goal deficit as she rejected four LVC shots in the opening 15 minutes.
• Montclair got on the board in the 17th minute. SADIE EICHLIN's initial attempt was denied, but the rebound came to KYLIE COMPTON. Compton put the carom home for her second goal of the campaign.
• Compton nearly gave Montclair the lead in the 24th minute, but her blast off a corner was stopped. The Red Hawks almost broke through in the 40th minute, as a long run from CARLIE VAN TASSEL ended with a save from the Dutchwoman goalkeeper.
• Montclair notched the lone two shots of the fourth quarter and two in the first overtime but could not capitalize. Lebanon Valley concluded the game 1:21 into the second extra session, converting a penalty stroke.

• Laman made six saves in goal.
• Eichlin led the Red Hawks with four shots on goal, as Compton added three.

"Tonight was a tough double OT loss. We are creating scoring opportunities in critical moments (3 APCs in the final minutes of regulation) and we need to find a way to achieve results under pressure.  Our focus will continue to be consistency day in and day out so we can see results on game day.  No rest for this group as we prepare for top opponents next week, Stevens and Messiah." - Head Coach Eileen O'Reilly.
