Mahwah, NJ. – The Montclair State University women's soccer team (7-5-5, 4-2-1 NJAC) went on the road and their strong defense and a pair of goals helped them blank NJAC foe Ramapo (3-11-1, 0-7-0), 2-0 on Wednesday night
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Hawks offense got going early with four shots within the first 10 minutes of the first half, three of them careening off the cross bar and posts. Montclair finally drew first blood when TARA LAMBERT found NIKI DANZ on a pass that was fired into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.
- The Red Hawks generated some good looks midway through the period but were stalled by Ramapo's goalkeeper. The game eventually went into the second half with the score of 1-0.
- Ramapo came out of the gate in the second half with two shots, the first one was saved by SALANGE BELL while the other went wide right. The Red Hawks went right back to their offensive pressure, compiling four shots between the 47th minute and the 61st minute. Three of those shots came from MADELINE LESICA. At the 62:41, Montclair was awarded a penalty kick and it was KYLIE PRENDERGAST who took it and sunk it for the Red Hawks to give them a two-goal advantage.
- Montclair's defense held Ramapo to just one more shot the rest of the way and eventually completed the shutout.
