LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks got the ball first and marched right down the field for an opening-drive touchdown. The drive was sparked by AIDAN MCLAUGHLIN connecting with ALEX DIMAULO for a 28-yard connection on second and eight from the MSU 35. The methodical drive was capped off with a quarterback keeper from McLaughlin from the one-yard line and put the Red Hawks up, 7-0. A three-and-out from the Pioneers and a bad punt set Montclair up with excellent field position at the WPU 29. Even though they went backwards, GREG CASIMIR capitalized with his career-long field goal of 50-yards to give Montclair State University a 10-0 advantage. The game went into the second quarter and Montclair eventually got the ball back with a drive right at the beginning of the quarter with a drive that started at 14:52. The Red Hawks punched in another touchdown on an eight-play, 78-yard drive. McLaughlin hit ANTHONY ROIGE for 24 yards on the first play. Facing a third and seven at the William Paterson 47, McLaughlin kept the drive going with a 12-yard completion to JAMIE HAMILTON for a first down. After a five-yard catch to Roige, McLaughlin fired a 30-yard dart to Hamilton for the second touchdown of the game and helped Montclair take a 17-0 lead. Both teams punted back to each other and then another punt attempt on a drive for the Pioneers that stalled, was blocked by KEYSHAWN DIXON, who picked up his own blocked kick and returned it to the William Paterson 18. They only picked up three yards on the drive, but Casimir notched another field goal, this time from 31-yards out to take a 20-0 lead. One last scoring drive of the half for Montclair was set up by ALEX BUCHWALD, who created a monster hit on a William Paterson wide receiver, who fumbled the ball and was picked up by Mohammed Abedrabo. The Red Hawks drove the ball down to the Pioneer 26 yard-line and set up Casimir for his third field goal make of the day, this time from 45 yards back and Montclair State University went into half with a 23-0 lead. It was a defensive battle in the third quarter with teams exchanging defensive stops up to a drive for the Red Hawks that started at the 2:02 mark and from the WPU 22 after another short punt. CHRISTOPHER ARNOLD sparked the drive with runs of five and 20 yards. McLaughlin capped a drive off again with a two-yard touchdown run to expand the lead to 29-0. The Pioneers finally got themselves on the board in the fourth quarter with an eight-play, 72-yard drive that was capped off on a 10-yard touchdown catch to cut the lead to 29-6 after the Red Hawks blocked the extra point. Casimir's career day was not done yet. On the next drive for Montclair, they drove the ball all the way down to the William Paterson 35-yard line. He then attempted to outdo his career long of 50 yards with a 52-yarder that just made the distance and extended the lead 32-6. The final score of the game came on another Montclair drive that started on a short punt in their own territory and a return by DYLAN SHARKEY to the five-yard line of the Pioneers. That drive was capped off with a three-yard touchdown run by MATT HOFFMAN to finish off the game with a 39-6 win.
