Volleyball Sweeps Brooklyn College for 10th Consecutive Victory

Montclair, NJ The Montclair State University volleyball team swept Brooklyn College to earn its 10th consecutive victory on Saturday afternoon at the Panzer Athletic Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (18-6) surged ahead with eight of the first 10 points, led by two kills from CAMRYN MUUSS. After Brooklyn cut the margin to four, Montclair answered with four-straight points on a kill from RACHEL CURRAN and three attack errors from the Bulldogs. With the score 13-8, Montclair tallied eight of the next nine points, as Sophia DiProfio notched three kills during the run. The Bulldogs later rattled off three-straight, but Muuss finished off the opening set for Montclair, 25-13.
  • After falling behind 4-1 to kick off the second stanza, BRYN BAUTISTA fired off three-straight kills along with an attack error from Brooklyn to push Montclair into the lead. The two sides battled within three points of each other, and the Red Hawks mounted a huge run to close out the set after Brooklyn cut the score to 13-11. Bautista kicked it off with a kill, and after two consecutive attack errors, RILEY MERKEL and ZOEY HORN notched kills to push the lead to seven. Following a point for the Bulldogs, the Red Hawks closed the set with seven-straight, led by two service aces from KASEY TRZASKA.
  • Five early errors from Brooklyn helped the Red Hawks jump out to a 7-3 lead in the third set, but the Bulldogs rallied with four of the next six to cut the score to 9-7. With the frame level at 12, Horn recorded back-to-back kills following a service error to give the home side a three-point advantage. Brooklyn leveled at 15, and later built a 22-19 lead. SOPHIA LOPEZ ended the run with a kill, and after a point for the Bulldogs, Montclair closed the match with five-straight points and three kills from Trzaska.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Montclair has won 10 consecutive matches, its longest streak since the 2021 season where it won 13 in a row. 
  • Trzaska led the way for Montclair with seven kills, the second-most in her first year campaign for the Red Hawks. Bautista and Horn added six kills each.
  • EMMA HATCHER finished with 12 digs on the defensive side for the Red Hawks, four off her season-high of 16 set on September 17 against Drew.
