Montclair, NJ- The Montclair State Swimming and Diving Team edged the College of Staten Island, 153-122 on Saturday to improve to 5-0 in meets this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- LUCAS GOMES and MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ both led the way with two individual wins today. Gomes touched the wall first in the 100 fly (51.09) and the 100 free (48.02). Wojciechowicz earned his first victories of his career when he clocked a 22.32 50 free and a 1:47.93 200 free.
- The Red Hawks also saw five other swimmers notch first-place finishes during today's meet. RYAN KAPPES collected a win in the 1000 free with a time of 10:24.87 for his best time of the season and his second win in the event. BRANDON DO was victorious in the 50 breast when he clocked a 28.46 in his first swim of that event this season. JARED GAYNOR earned his first win of his collegiate career when he outraced the field in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.98. VINCENT TERZO won the 500 free for the for the fourth time of the season today when he clocked a 4:54.42. PETER JARZAB rounded out the wins with a first-place finish in the 50 fly with a time of 24.04.
- BOBBY FREECE placed second in the 1M dives with scores of 117.55 and 136.90.
- The quartet of MICHAEL SALVATORI, Do, Gomes and Wojciechowicz outraced the field in the 200 medley relay for a team time of 1:38.07.
