Montclair, NJ- The Montclair State University Women's Basketball team (6-2, 2-2 NJAC) took care of business in the Panzer Athletic Center tonight as they downed Ramapo (1-9, 0-4 NJAC), 78-30 on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Hawks were hot out of the gate, scoring 22 points while only allowing a bucket in the first quarter to take a 22-2. An opening three from AMANDA CASTRO sparked an early 11-0 run. The only bucket from the Roadrunners came with 3:04 left to go in the quarter and was followed by a Craigwell layup that sparked another 11-0 run to finish off the first.
- Montclair continued their dominance in the second quarter, outscoring Ramapo 21-8 to take a 43-10 lead into halftime. 12 of the 21 points came on three balls that were sunk by ISABELLA ORLANDO, SHANNON HUGHES, Craigwell, and Castro.
- The third quarter was more of the same as Montclair continued to be in the driver's seat of the game, collecting 17 points in the quarter while only giving up five to Ramapo as they took a 60-15 advantage heading into the final quarter. Castro and Craigwell led the way in scoring in the third, each accounting for six points apiece.
- The game was more of a tight battle in the fourth with Ramapo matching their three-quarter total of 15 in the final quarter but still did not outscore Montclair, who notched 18 points to cap off the 78-30 win. The Red Hawks saw six different players score in the fourth quarter.
