Wayne, NJ The Montclair State University women's basketball team fell to William Paterson 66-50 on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (4-2, 0-2 NJAC) fell behind early, as the Pioneers recorded the game's first seven points over the opening three minutes. • Down nine early in the second, the Red Hawks rattled off seven-straight points, a run capped off by a layup from BRIANNA MONTAJES at the stanza's halfway mark. ALYSSA CRAIGWELL converted a layup a minute later to bring the visitors within one, but the Pioneers built their lead back to seven going into the break.
  • SHANNON HUGHES connected on a jumper 80 seconds into the second half to cut the score to 33-30, and after William Paterson added to their lead to go up by eight at the seven minute mark, the Red Hawks once again cut it to four on a fastbreak layup from Craigwell. The Pioneers led by as many as nine the remainder of the quarter and took a 47-40 lead into the final stanza.
