Preview | Men's Basketball vs Kean (NJAC Quarterfinals)

Montclair, NJ – The No. 3 Montclair State University men's basketball team hosts No. 6 Kean in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon.

TICKET PRICES
Per the New Jersey Athletic Conference, ticket prices for all postseason events are $10 for adults and $5 for students (with ID)/senior citizens/children. The first 50 students that show their student ID will gain free admission. PLEASE NOTE: SEASON TICKETS WILL NOT BE HONORED FOR POSTSEASON EVENTS!

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (17-8, 12-6 NJAC) took down Rowan 113-110 in a double overtime thriller on Wednesday, February 14 in the regular season finale for both sides. Montclair went up by seven points with just under two minutes remaining in regulation, but the Profs were able to force overtime on consecutive three-pointers, including one with 25 seconds left. Montclair held a narrow advantage late in the first overtime, but a Rowan layup with seven seconds remaining pushed the contest to a second frame. KIERAN FLANAGAN gave the Red Hawks the lead with 35 seconds left, and Montclair held on for the victory.

SCOUTING KEAN
The Cougars enter Saturday's contest as the No. 6 seed in the NJAC Men's Basketball Tournament after posting a 12-13 record on the campaign. Kean finished with a 9-9 mark in conference play and won their last two games in order to qualify for the postseason. They took down Stockton 72-56 on Wednesday, February 14 behind 31 points from Justin Morton.The Cougars are led by D.J. Alicea, who has recorded eight 20-point games this season, including two of his last three.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 103-47 all-time against Kean and has won 14 of the last 18 meetings. The two sides split the season series with each team winning on its home court. Montclair is 32-15 against Kean at home, with the Red Hawks holding a nine-game winning streak against the Cougars at the Panzer Athletic Center.

LAST MEETING
Montclair fell to Kean 84-73 on Saturday, February 10 in a game that featured 18 lead changes and four ties. Neither side could build a multi-possession lead in the second half until the 8:42 mark when Kean went up four. The Red Hawks got within one multiple times, with the latest being with 96 seconds on the clock. Kean outscored Montclair 13-3 over the remaining stretch to seal the victory. KYREE HENRY led the Red Hawks with 16 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc.

POSTSEASON HISTORY
The Red Hawks are making their 24th appearance in the NJAC Tournament, posting a 17-19 record. Montclair and Kean will clash for the first time in the NJAC Tournament. The Red Hawks have won a game in four of their last six appearances in the competition.
