Women's Lacrosse Edged by Stockton

Galloway, NJ The Montclair State University women's lacrosse team was edged by Stockton University 11-9 on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (7-3, 1-1 NJAC) started strong, as KAELEY SEK kicked off the scoring three minutes into the game off a feed from LEXI ROBINSON. Following the resulting draw, AMRA LUKOVIC scored on an unassisted marker to double the advantage. 
  • Sek registered her second goal of the quarter with 4:13 on the clock, and Montclair forced four Osprey turnovers down the stretch to maintain the three-goal advantage going into the second.
  • Robinson continued the surge with a marker three and a half minutes into the second stanza, and CHELSEA STACK scored off a feed from KYRA MORENA to make the score 5-0. After Stockton tallied their first goal of the contest, Morena and NORAH MONAGHAN answered to make the margin six with four minutes in the half.
  • Stockton scored the final two goals of the second and opened the third frame with the first two markers to cut the deficit to two with 6:25 remaining. Lukovic answered shortly after on a free-position goal to give the Red Hawks a three-goal advantage going into the final 15 minutes of play.
  • Lukovic struck 17 seconds into the fourth, but Stockton answered with the final six markers of the contest to come back and win the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Lukovic led Montclair with three goals on the day, marking her second-straight hat trick and fifth of her collegiate career.
  • Stack's second quarter goal marked her 100th career point, becoming the first Red Hawk to achieve the feat since Rhiannon Brown in the 2022 season.
  • JOEY GROTKOPF tallied 12 saves in the setback, eclipsing 200 for her collegiate career. She became the seventh Red Hawk in program history to record 200 saves for their career and the first since Allyn Lilien during the 2021 season.
