Box Score Swarthmore, PA – The Montclair State University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Swarthmore in their season opener on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Red Hawks (0-0-1) saw four saves from SALANGE BELL in the opening 15 minutes, as the freshman keeper added two more to keep the game level over the opening 30 minutes. 
• Montclair broke the scoring open shortly after, as NICOLE RICCI played a touch to AILEEN CAHILL, who slotted a through ball to KYLIE PRENDERGAST. The forward made a run towards the box, shedded a defender, and slotted a low shot into the back of the net.
• Swarthmore equalized in the 55th minute on a shot from the top of the 18 yard box after maneuvering around two defenders. The Garnet attempted to take the lead in the 65th minute, but Bell collected another save following a shot towards the bottom center of the net.
• The Red Hawks put three shots on goal in the final 25 minutes of the contest, but Swarthmore held on to end the game level at one.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• The goal for Prendergast marked the 19th of her collegiate career, with Cahill picking up her 23rd career assist. Ricci's helper was her second in her two-year Montclair tenure.
• Cahill has recorded a goal contribution in three of Montclair's last five season openers.
• Bell tallied eight saves in her collegiate debut in net, marking the most stops by a goalkeeper since Lindsay Freewalt on October 1, 2019.
