Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University volleyball team kicks off a multi-day tournament against Vassar on Friday night.

2023 REWIND
Montclair reeled off wins in four of their first five contests and went a perfect 3-0 at the Misericordia Tournament. The Red Hawks set a Panzer Athletic Center record as they packed 600 fans for their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener against Kean and swept Rutgers-Camden for their first home conference win in mid-October. Montclair closed the season by winning four of their last five matches, including a 3-0 victory over DeSales on November 4.

SCOUTING VASSAR
The Brewers amassed a 17-10 record during the 2023 season, including a 6-2 mark in conference play. Vassar rattled off six victories in their final seven matches of the regular season, and knocked off Skidmore in four sets in the First Round of the Liberty League Championships. They fell to Ithaca in four sets in the Semifinal Round of the Tournament. The Brewers were tabbed fourth in the 2024 Liberty League Preseason Coaches Poll.

SERIES HISTORY
Vassar holds a slim 6-5 edge in the all-time series against Montclair, taking six of the first seven matchups. The Red Hawks have rattled off four consecutive victories against the Brewers, all coming in straight sets, in a streak dating back to the 2017 campaign.

LAST MEETING
Montclair took down Vassar 3-0 to conclude their regular season on October 26, 2022. The Red Hawks claimed the first set 27-25 before cruising to a 25-13 second set and 25-12 third set. Leah Higgins tallied 13 kills, while Carly Waterman posted a double-double of 10 kills and 14 digs. Delaney St. Pierre filled the stat sheet with 34 assists, eight kills, six digs, and three blocks in the win.

The Red Hawks will host UMass Dartmouth at 11:00 AM and FDU-Florham at 5:00 PM on Saturday, August 31 at the Panzer Athletic Center.
