Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University volleyball team hosts UMass Dartmouth and FDU-Florham in the second day of its opening weekend tournament.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair defeated Vassar in four sets to kick off the 2024 campaign on Friday, August 30 at the Panzer Athletic Center. After the Red Hawks claimed the first set 25-17, the Brewers answered with a 25-16 second set to level the contest. The home side edged Vassar 25-22 in the third set to reclaim the advantage and closed out the Brewers 25-19 in the fourth. The victory marked the third consecutive season-opening win for the Red Hawks. CAMRYN MUUSS led the way for Montclair with 17 kills in her collegiate debut, with KASEY TRZASKA notching 13 kills and 14 digs and BRYN BAUTISTA compiling 11 kills and 15 digs.

SCOUTING UMASS DARTMOUTH AND FDU-FLORHAM
UMass Dartmouth defeated FDU-Florham in straight sets to open their respective campaigns on Friday, August 30 at the Panzer Athletic Center. The Corsairs are coming off a 20-7 season in which they went a perfect 8-0 in conference play. They took down UMass Boston and Plymouth State to clinch the Little East Conference Tournament title, but fell in three sets to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Devils went 14-14 in 2023, falling in the ECAC Semifinals to William Paterson in three sets. They were selected eighth in their conference preseason coaches poll, while UMass Dartmouth was tabbed first in their respective conference.

SERIES HISTORY
UMass Dartmouth claimed the only prior meeting against Montclair, while the all-time series between the Red Hawks and Devils is even at 10. Montclair has won three consecutive matches against FDU-Florham dating back to the 2018 season.

LAST MEETING
Montclair fell to UMass Dartmouth in their only meeting on October 24, 1992 in three sets. The Red Hawks raced past FDU-Florham in three sets in their last meeting on September 6, 2023. Montclair hit .329 over three sets, and setter EMILY CARCICH handed out 29 assists. RACHEL CURRAN posted a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs.
