Montclair, NJ – Senior forward
SAMUEL EPITIME knocked in a game-winning penalty shot for the Montclair State men's soccer team that helped lift themselves past Moravian, 1-0 on Wednesday night at MSU Soccer Park
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half saw the Red Hawks garner almost all of the opportunities, out shooting the Greyhounds 10-2 in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net. The best chance for MSU came when Epitime fielded a breakaway ball at the 15:37 timestamp and went one-on-one with the goalie near the right-inside of the penalty box but a great save from Moravian goalkeeper Casey Prajzner stalled the scoring opportunity and kept the game at a scoreless draw.
- It was at the 56:10 when Epitime got fouled inside the box and drew the penalty shot opportunity. He buried the attempt into the lower left corner of the goal and broke the scoreless tie.
- Moravian had chances late to score, but could not capitalize. Their best chance came when Joey Roth found an amazing opportunity at a put in right at the top of the penalty box at the 88:37 mark, but the shot hit the crossbar of the goal and the MSU defense clamped up to seal the win
