Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University volleyball team hosts Bard and Cedar Crest in a tri-match on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair defeated FDU-Florham in straight sets on Saturday, August 31 at the Panzer Athletic Center. The Red Hawks raced out to an 8-2 advantage in the opening stanza and later built their lead up to 12-4 on back-to-back kills from CAMRYN MUUSS and KASEY TRZASKA. They later ballooned the advantage to 19-8 and would later close the set 25-12. After clinching the second frame 25-9, Montclair found itself up 17-13 in the third before it embarked on a 7-0 run capped off by three consecutive kills from MIA CAPRIGLIONE, ZOEY HORN, and Muuss. The Red Hawks would eventually close out the Devils for their second win of the season.

SCOUTING BARD AND CEDAR CREST
Bard fell in straight sets to Babson to open their season, and were narrowly defeated by Husson in their second match. After sweeping Maine-Presque Isle 3-0, the Raptors came up short against Saint Elizabeth 3-1 in their most recent match. They accumulated a 11-20 record during the 2023 season and were picked ninth in the Liberty League 2024 Preseason Coaches Poll. Cedar Crest opened their 2024 campaign with victories over Marywood and Delaware Valley before falling in four sets to DeSales in their most recent match. The Falcons went 16-9 in 2023, including a perfect 9-0 mark in conference play. They defeated Cairn and Notre Dame of Maryland to reach the United East Conference Championship, but fell in four sets to Gallaudet. 

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks have clashed with Bard twice in their history, with Montclair posting victories in 1994 and 1995. Montclair leads the all-time series with Cedar Crest 3-0, holding a 9-2 advantage in sets during those three matches. 

LAST MEETING
Montclair defeated Bard in straight sets on September 30, 1995 in the most recent clash between the two sides. The Red Hawks swept Cedar Crest 3-0 on September 6, 2014 as part of a season-opening quad match. Melissa Terpstra and Madison Maute had five kills each, Kimberly Matlock had 12 assists, and Terpstra and Samantha Szura tallied seven digs apiece.
