Wayne, NJ – The Montclair State University women's soccer (9-0-4, 4-0-1 NJAC) went on the road for New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) play and took care of business with a 4-0 victory against William Paterson (6-7-1, 1-3-1 NJAC) on Wednesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· The Red Hawks began a relentless attack in the first five minutes of the contest with three shots, two of which were on goal, but were saved by the Pioneer goalkeeper.
· Montclair saw two quick hitters in the 20th and 26th minutes of the match that pushed them out to a 2-0 advantage. KYLIE PRENDERGAST assisted both of the goals, finding ISABELL KRONOW for the match's first goal and then assisting MACKENZIE ALBERT shortly after.
· The match came out of the second half with the Pioneers putting a shot on goal in the 56th minute that was denied by SALANGE BELL.
· The next two Montclair goals came within less the two minutes of each other. At the 65:40 mark, SHANNON MULLINS fired a shot into the back of the net and was followed up at the 67:25 timestamp with a goal coming off the foot of GIANNA CURCI from MADELINE LESICA.
· The Red Hawks did not surrender a shot the rest of the way and came away with their third clean-sheet win.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
· Prendergast has been making her presence known with her third-straight multi-point game, while Mullins has found a goal in three of the last four matches.
· While Montclair's offense has been on fire, it's the defensive presence that has propelled Montclair to its still unbeaten season. They held the Pioneers to just two shots all game, the fourth time they've done that against two opponents this season, and the eighth time they've held a team to five or fewer shots. It is also the team's seventh shutout of the year.
· Bell earned her shutout win with one save.
FROM THE FIELD
