Men’s Swimming & Diving Victorious Against Vassar, 144-115

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State Men's Swimming & Diving team (2-1) hosted Vassar for a Halloween dual meet on Friday evening and was victorious by a score of 144-115.

How It Happened
  • The Red Hawks were headed by MICHAEL SALVATORI, who picked up two individual wins in the 200 free (1:49.61) and the 200 back (2:03.90).
  • PETER JARZAB and BOBBY FREECE each picked up an individual event win. Jarzab touched the wall first in the 200 fly (1:55.39), with Freece collecting first in the 100 free (47.96).
  • In his first dive of the season, RYDER BALAY took home a first-place finish with scores of 115.95 and 145.28.
  • VINCENT TERZO, MATT DETTLINGER, and MASON DRANCHAK wrapped up individual wins for Montclair. Terzo notched first in the 1000 free (10:20.39), Dettlinger in the 100 breast (1:00.78), and Dranchak in the 100 back (56.05). Dranchak also placed third in the 200 back when he clocked a 2:05.84.
  • ALEX PASQUINI finished just behind Terzo in the 1000 free, placing second with a time of 10:26.43. Also placing second in individual events were MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ and ADRIAN GONZALEZ. Wojciechowicz saw two second-place finishes in the 50 free (22.30) and the 200 free (1:51.71), while Gonzalez placed second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.94.
  • Five other Red Hawks saw third-place finishes in tonight's meet. SEAN NUGENT clocked an 11:00.75 1000 free for third, JORDAN LEDBETTER earned third in the 100 breast (1:04.10), JARED GAYNOR notched third in the 200 fly (2:07.31), FILIP SALEK touched third in the 50 free (23.18) and ANDREW PEARCE in the 100 back (56.62).
  • In the 200 medley relay, the field was led by the quartet of Pearce, Salek, Freece, and Jarzab, who won the event with a team time of 1:38.68. Following behind in second was the team of Dranchak, Dettlinger, Gonzalez, and Wojciechowicz, who compiled a time of 1:39.68.
