Field Hockey Stymied in Season-Finale at #14 Rowan, 3-0

Glassboro, NJ – The Montclair State University field hockey (5-12, 2-4 NJAC) tried to end its 2025 season on a high note, but was stymied by #14 Rowan (14-5, 6-0 NJAC), 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Rowan went on the attack early and often with five shots and three penalty corners. They saw two good looks in the sixth and 15th minutes, but SYDNEY WHITE stopped both of the shots to keep the score 0-0 heading into the second.
  • The Profs continued to control the game, matching their first-period total, but put an extra shot on goal. White once again made the stops she needed to keep Montclair in the game with three saves and kept the game scoreless going into the halftime intermission.
  • Rowan finally broke through just 35 seconds into the third quarter with a goal on its first shot of the period to take a 1-0 lead. They continued to apply pressure, and while White made five saves in the quarter, another shot got through in the final minute of the third period, and they took a 2-0 lead into the final frame.
  • Montclair continued to find itself on its heels and Rowan. After another pair of saves, the Profs found their final goal of the afternoon at the 48:23 timestamp to hold a 3-0 lead and eventually the win.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Despite the loss, White had a career day with 15 saves in the contest. She finishes the season with 162 saves, which leads the NJAC after the regular season.
  • Rowan was dominant today, recording 30 shots (18 on goal) and did not surrender a single shot to Montclair today.
  • The Profs also did not surrender a penalty corner today, while tallying 17 of their own.
FROM THE FIELD
  • "What I saw today was residence and belief. The result stings, but the effort speaks volumes about who we are becoming." Associate Head Coach Marissa Siconolfi
