Men's Lacrosse Earns Road Victory Over Marywood, 9-5

Scranton, PA The Montclair State University men's lacrosse team took down Marywood University, 9-5, on Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (4-1) broke the scoring open in the first minute of the contest, as CODY COOPER sent a feed to MAX MOROSOFF, who found the back of the net. Montclair dominated possession over the opening 10 minutes, rattling off five shots, including three on frame, before finding the back of the net again at the 5:17 mark on a marker from ETHAN MOUNIER. LUCAS NOVACK won the ensuing faceoff, and the Red Hawks tallied four consecutive attempts leading to an unassisted goal from LOUIS AZARA to make the score 3-0 after one frame.
  • Marywood recorded their first goal of the contest two and a half minutes into the second quarter, but the Red Hawks countered with seven of the next eight shots. JACKSON SIMONS found JOHN CRANK for a goal as the period approached its halfway point to push the lead back to three, but the Pacers scored shortly after to make the score 4-2 going into the break.
  • Simons scored right out of halftime off a find from Cooper, and Marywood answered right back with a man-up goal four minutes later. An unassisted marker from WILLIAM BURDGE pushed the lead back to three with 5:36 remaining in the third, as Montclair continued to push offensively with five more shots to close out the stanza, but neither side could find the back of the net during that stretch.
  • The Pacers opened the final quarter with two goals in the first five minutes to cut the deficit to one, but Montclair answered on the next possession, as a shot on goal led to a save that rebounded into a ground ball pickup for Mounier. Cooper found Morosoff for a second time later on the possession to push it back to a two-score contest. Cooper scored with just over four minutes on the clock to make the margin three, and on the ensuing faceoff, Novack won possession which led to an unassisted goal from DAREN MAYER to seal the road victory for the Red Hawks.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
