Women’s Lacrosse Upended in NJAC Semifinals at Rowan

Glassboro, NJ – The third-seeded Montclair State University women's lacrosse team (9-7) saw its 2025 season come to a close as they were upended in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament Semifinals by second-seeded Rowan (15-2), 19-4 on Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The first quarter was all Profs. Rowan kicked off the contest hot with five goals in the first five minutes of play. In that time span, LEXI ROBINSON saw an opportunity to score with a shot on goal, but it was saved. The Profs then proceeded to score four more goals to take a 9-0 lead into the second period.
  • Rowan remained hot in the second quarter. They scored 49 seconds into the quarter and fired in three more between 14:11 and 5:18 to hold a dominant 13-0 advantage. The Prof defense held the Red Hawks to just two shots in the second quarter. Both shots came off the stick of KAELEY SEK, who landed one of them off a pass from CHELSEA STACK at 1:27 to avoid the shutout and put the score at 13-1 entering the second half.
  • Montclair kicked off scoring in the second half. Off a failed clear by Rowan, JOELLE D'ANGELO found the back of the net for the Red Hawks' second goal of the contest at 12:22. Rowan's defense held strong again, holding Montclair to just one shot the rest of the quarter while finding three more goals down the stretch to hold a 16-2 lead going into the final period.
  • The Red Hawks fired in two goals in the beginning portion of the fourth quarter. At 13:04, D'Angelo scored her second goal of the game with Stack collecting another assist. They followed it up at 10:58 when AVA ABBATIELLO found Stack for the fourth Red Hawk goal. Montclair produced five shots down the stretch but was unable to find the back of the net. Rowan produced three more goals the rest of the way and walked away with an emphatic 19-4 victory.

Inside the Numbers

  • Stack finished the day with the team high in points with three on a goal and two assists. She finishes her career with 115 assists, which places her fourth all-time.
  • D'Angelo wrapped up her career leading the team with two goals in the contest.
  • JOEY GROTKOPF suffered the loss in goal. She played all 60 minutes and made five saves.
