Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University women's soccer team (5-0-3, 1-0-0 NJAC) kicked off New Jersey Athletic Conference play against New Jersey City and bested the Gothic Knights, 3-0 on homecoming Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· Montclair went on the attack right out of the gate, producing two corners in the first four minutes of the match. KYLIE PRENDERGAST looked to put in a goal early in that span, but her shot hit the post.
· The Red Hawks saw two quick hitters that pushed them out in front on the scoreboard. Prendergast found ISABELL KRONOW for a goal in the 17th minute that gave them a 1-0. Just two minutes later, Kronow struck again, this time off a pass from MACKENZIE ALBERT, and the Red Hawks held a 2-0 lead, which they took into the halftime intermission
· NJCU saw the first shot of the second half in the 56th minute, but it went over the net. Four minutes later, Albert fired a shot into the back of the net to give Montclair a commanding 3-0 lead.
· The Gothic Knights saw opportunities down the stretch with three shots on goal, but all were denied by SALANGE BELL, and the Red Hawks earned the shutout win.
