#25 Women's Soccer Powers Past Rutgers-Newark on Homecoming, 3-0

Montclair, NJ – The #25 Montclair State University Women's Soccer team powered past Rutgers-Newark 3-0 on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (8-1-1, 2-0-0 NJAC) generated a pair of shots over the opening ten minutes, with the first attempt on goal coming from KAYLEE LAUBER in the 20th minute, that was parried away by the Rutgers-Newark keeper to force a corner kick. A minute later, SAMIRA LUKOVIC served an in-swinging corner kick from the far side of the field that was flicked towards goal by SHANNON MULLINS. The loose ball fell right in front of goal for ISABELL KRONOW, who ripped a left-footed shot past the keeper to break the scoring open.
  • Montclair continued to push on the front foot throughout the opening stanza, as Lauber pressed a Scarlet Raiders centerback as the visitors tried to cycle the ball three minutes later, forcing a turnover just outside the box. Kronow gained possession, surged past the last defender, beat the keeper that came off the line, and sent a right-footed shot towards the far post. The back line for the Red Hawks pitched a shutout in the first half, not allowing a shot from Rutgers-Newark throughout the first half, going into the break up two goals.
  • Coming out of halftime, LAUREN VINELLA rocketed a shot that rang off the left woodwork, as the Red Hawks notched a pair of shots from MARY LANE over the first ten minutes of the second stanza searching for another strike. Montclair tallied two shots on goal in the 62nd and 72nd minute, as Lauber and Lane both saw shots stopped by the Scarlet Raiders keeper to maintain the margin. The Red Hawks continued the offensive barrage seven minutes later, with Kronow seeing an attempt saved.
  • Rutgers-Newark recorded their lone shot of the day in the 84th minute, with the Red Hawks blocking the attempt outside the box. On the ensuing sequence, Kronow won possession at midfield, made a run towards goal, and slipped a centering pass to Lauber, who cut around a defender and stepped towards goal, tucking a right-footed shot past the keeper to tack on the final marker of the day. Neither side recorded a shot over the remainder of the day as the Red Hawks sealed their second consecutive victory to open league play.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Kronow finished with a pair of goals and an assist, increasing her season goal contribution total to 15. Her brace was her second multi-goal performance of the season, as the junior leads the New Jersey Athletic Conference in goals with nine and ranks second in assists with six. The striker has tallied seven goal contributions over Montclair's last three games and eight of the Red Hawks' 10 contests.
  • Lauber's goal marked her sixth of her freshman campaign to move her into a tie for second in the NJAC.
  • Mullins tallied her first assist of the season and sixth of her career. She has notched a goal contribution in four of her six appearances.
  • Sibello registered her fourth shutout of the campaign and her second-straight. The Red Hawks did not allow a single shot on goal for the first time since September 24, 2025 against Moravian.
  • Montclair held a 16-1 advantage in shots for the afternoon, including a 8-0 gap in shots on goal.
  • The Red Hawks have won three consecutive games and are unbeaten through five contests at MSU Soccer Park this season.
