Men's Basketball to Host First Two Rounds of NCAA Tournament; Draws Maine Farmington in Opening Game

Indianapolis, IN For the second consecutive season and third time in the last four years, the Montclair State University Men's Basketball Team has earned a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Announced on Monday afternoon, the Red Hawks will serve as one of the 16 host sites for the First and Second Rounds of the competition on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7.


Montclair (25-2) earned an at-large bid out of the New Jersey Athletic Conference and will take on the winners of the North Atlantic Conference, the University of Maine Farmington (22-5). In the other matchup, NESCAC at-large bid Bates (18-8) will square off against Skyline Conference Champion Yeshiva (20-8).

The Red Hawks are in the NCAA Tournament for the third time since the 2022-23 campaign, marking the second time in program history that they have qualified for the field in three out of four seasons (1980-84). This year, Montclair set a program record in wins (25), longest win streak (24), and best start in program history (24). Their run to begin the campaign was the fifth-longest win streak in the history of Montclair Athletics and tied for the second-longest in NJAC Men's Basketball history.
