Women's Soccer Powers Past Manhattanville, 7-0

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University Women's Soccer team recorded its largest margin of victory since 2024 with a 7-0 triumph over Manhattanville on Saturday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (3-0-1) broke the scoring open less than a minute into the contest, as a corner kick was centered from the far side of the box. After the ball rang off the woodwork, it found the left foot of KAYLEE LAUBER, who sent a shot past the keeper to the top of the bar. Montclair doubled their lead in the 12th minute, as Lauber back-heeled a pass to CARLY GUZZARDO along the near touch line. The defender maneuvered around a defender and ripped a right-footed cross that was headed in by SHANNON MULLINS.
  • Lauber had another attempt on goal that was stopped a minute after, but the home side vaulted ahead by three in the 16th minute as EMMA EDWARDS tucked a through ball into the box to Lauber, who tapped a low centering pass to ISABELL KRONOW for the goal. Montclair continued to dominate possession, tallying three more shot attempts over the remainder of the half. The Valiants notched their first shot of the afternoon in the 44th minute, as MACKENZIE SIBELLO had to parry away a ball heading towards the top right corner of goal.
  • In the 52nd minute, Guzzardo chipped a leading ball along the far touch line to spring Kronow, who made a run towards the end line in the box and centered a pass for LAUREN VINELLA for a tap-in goal with the right foot. Another strong pass from Guzzardo six minutes later set up Lauber with a run towards goal, who dropped off feed to Vinella for a left-footed finish to push the margin to five. Vinella drew a foul in the box two minutes after, as the offensive barrage continued with a Lauber penalty kick goal.
  • Montclair found the back of the net one final time in the 63rd minute, as KAYDEN ARAVENA made a run down the near touch line and curled a low through ball to a running MARY LANE. The freshman collected the ball, made a run to the end line, and ripped a left-footed shot past the keeper. The Red Hawks continued to stand strong defensively, allowing just two shots over the remainder of the afternoon to seal the victory.
