Men's Soccer Blanks Brooklyn College 6-0 in Home Opener

Montclair, NJ In a game where it did not allow a single shot attempt, the Montclair State University Men's Soccer team surged past Brooklyn College 6-0 in its 2026 home opener on Monday night at MSU Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (2-1-0) struck within the opening three minutes, as TOMAS MONTEIRO flicked a pass off a hold-up play to IVAN GARCIA, who chipped a ball over the top of the outside back to spring TYLER DIAZ down the near touch line. The winger surged into the box along the end line and rattled a shot off the far post that went into the back of the net. Montclair continued to push on the front foot, registering four more shot attempts before KEVIN CONTRERAS scored in the 13th minute off a rebound in front of goal.
  • Diaz tallied another shot on goal off the restart, with the Red Hawks pushing the advantage to three in the 20th minute. Monteiro won back possession along the end line on the near side of the box, pushed towards the keeper, and ripped a shot to the far post. The home side racked up four more shots and were able to increase the margin to four in the 30th minute, as a corner kick resulted in an own goal for the Bulldogs off a header. Montclair took seven more attempts across the final 15 minutes of the stanza, but would go into the break up four.
  • Montclair came out of halftime strong with their fifth tally of the night, as LOGAN NENO ripped a shot on goal that was parried away from the keeper, but found the left foot of MAX PERRY, who sent a first-touch shot into the back of the net. The Red Hawks amassed five shot attempts over the next 25 minutes, continuing to hold Brooklyn College with limited offensive opportunities.
  • ANTHONY BAUTISTA sent a rip towards goal in the 75th minute that had to be pushed aside by the Bulldogs, as Montclair found their sixth and final marker of the contest four minutes later. JAYDEN WESLEY collected a centering pass from the near end line, looked towards goal, and pushed a left-footed pass to the edge of the box, where GABE RODRIGUEZ took a touch and sent the ball into the top left corner of goal.
