Mission Statements | Meet Attendance Policies Competitive Level As stated in the brochure and discussed during practices, attendance of meets by Competitive Level athletes is NOT optional. All swimmers registered for the Competitive Level are expected to attend all meets for which they are eligible. The primary focus of the Competitive Level is on conditioning and preparation for competition, and, as such, all individuals registered for this level of the program are expected to attend all available competitions. It may be noted that athletes are not necessarily eligible for every meet offered throughout the season, thus severely limiting the number of opportunities most swimmers have to engage in competition. Because of this, attendance at all meets for which an athlete is eligible is crucial in the development of that person as a competitive swimmer. The coaching staff will address individual concerns on a one-on-one basis, but failure to attend meets by Competitive Level athletes may result in dismissal from the team.  Developmental Level As stated in the brochure and discussed during practices, attendance of meets by Developmental Level athletes is encouraged for those who are deemed ready by the coaching staff, although it remains completely optional. As the season progresses, many swimmers registered for the Developmental Level may develop the skills, confidence, and desire necessary to participate in competitions. Consequently, the coaching staff makes swim meets available to members of this level of the Red Hawk Swim Club but does not mandate attendance. Our ultimate goal for the Developmental Level is to develop skills necessary to succeed as a competitive swimmer and instill a desire to continue swimming competitively in each athlete. Without meets being made available to these individuals, many of them may never be able to experience the thrill of competition. Although an exciting and enticing part of the Red Hawk Swim Club, swim meets involve a certain degree of commitment from both the participating athletes and their parents. Competitions will involve some degree of travel throughout the northern portion of New Jersey at various hours of the day from early morning to late evening.
