Ian Carter

Ian Carter was named head coach of the the men's and women's indoor & outdoor track & field programs in October of 2019.

Carter guided John Griffith to the New Jersey Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Year laurels three times, including both the 2022-23 Indoor and 2023 Outdoor campaigns. The Red Hawks have sent three student-athletes to the NCAA Championships (Damian Valentine - 2021 Outdoor, 2022 Outdoor; John Griffith - 2022-23 Indoor, and Anthony DiMaulo - 2023 Outdoor).

 

Additionally, Carter served as the Athletic Liaison for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. In this role, he served as the primary contact for any prospective freshman and transfer student-athletes. He was responsible for the identification and application process of all Undergraduate Admissions information.

 

The Matawan, NJ native has been a part of the Game Day Operations staff for Montclair State Football since 2018 and has been a member of the Intercollegiate Athletic Council for the University since 2015. 

 

Carter earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rowan University in 2014 and received a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education in 2018. He was a three-year member of the Profs football team, playing in 19 career games. A two-sport athlete at Matawan Regional HS, Carter won the State Sectional Indoor Champion in the shot put during his senior year and the in the discus as a junior.
