Montclair State University Athletics

Colleen O’Connell starts season No. 2 with the Red Hawks and serves as Montclair's recruiting coordinator. O’Connell came to MSU following a very successful career at Vassar College. A First-Team All-Liberty League selection, O’Connell helped lead the Brewers to two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and the league’s championship in 2012. Named the D3Hoops.com All-East Region Rookie of the Year, O’Connell was also the Liberty League Rookie of the Year and also earned a spot on the ECAC Upstate All-Star Team. During her career, O’Connell set the Vassar single-game record for rebounds and finished fourth in that category on the career list in addition to being second for rebound average and third in free-throw percentage. O’Connell also spent two seasons as a student assistant coach and was responsible for game film breakdown and opponent scouting.  A 2016 graduate of Vassar, the three-time Liberty League All-Academic Team member, earned her degree in Neuroscience and Behavior and was a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology. O’Connell also spent time as student athletic trainer and was an intern for the Dean of Students at Vassar.
