Courtney Cunningham-Jones is in her 17th season with Montclair State and her first as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach.

In 2024-25, Cunningham-Jones was part of the group that was named the NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Red Hawks to a 24-5 record, an NJAC Championship, and the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Cunningham-Jones
came to MSU after serving as an assistant coach for both basketball and lacrosse at Stevens Institute. An outstanding two-sport athlete at Drew University, Cunningham-Jones collected All-American honors in both basketball and lacrosse. A three-year captain on the hardwood, Cunningham-Jones was a three-time Middle Atlantic Athletic Conference selection and was the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2004. She would be named the MAC’s Player of the Year in 2007 and was named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and Kodak Division III All-America Team that same season.

On the lacrosse field, Cunningham-Jones was a two-time All-MAC pick and was twice named to the IWLCA All-Region Team (2006 and 2007). She was named to the organization’s Division III All-American squad in 2007. Cunningham-Jones was inducted into the Drew University Athletic Hall of Fame in September 2017. A Dean’s List student in each of her four years at Drew, Cunningham-Jones was also a four-time selection to the MAC All-Academic Team and was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year by the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey (CAANJ) in 2007.

She serves as the Assistant Dean for Student Services with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State. In this role, she assists students in course selection, credit adjustments, major/minor exploration, and graduation planning. Previously, Cunningham was the Director of Academic Advising in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prior to joining the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, she was an Academic Advising Specialist in the Center of Advising and Student Transitions at Montclair State.

Cunningham-Jones
graduated Cum Laude from Drew in 2007 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Business Management and Sociology before earning a Master's Degree from Montclair State in 2011.
