Montclair State University Athletics

Zach Ammirati joined the women’s basketball staff for his first season as an Assistant Coach in 2023-24. Coming from Sparta, New Jersey, Zach is an experienced and passionate basketball coach. 

In 2024-25, Ammirati was part of the group that was named the NJAC Coaching Staff of the Year after guiding the Red Hawks to a 24-5 record, an NJAC Championship, and the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

He first got involved with coaching 6 years ago when he began working as an assistant coach and trainer with BT Basketball. He’s helped a large number of athletes reach their goals and dreams of playing collegiate basketball across all three divisions.

In addition to his coaching experience with BT Basketball, Ammirati was an Assistant Coach at Sparta High School for the 2022-23 season. Zach helped coach the program to a historical season, where Sparta won their second county championship in school history.  

In 2022, Zach graduated from Montclair State University with a bachelor's degree in Economics. Ammirati was a four year varsity player at Sparta High School where helped Sparta to the Group 3 State Semi-final.
