Chris Owen begins his eighth season as an assistant coach and works with the Red Hawk goalkeepers, a position he is very familiar with having played four years for the MSU men’s team. Owen appeared in 58 games during his career and earned two All-NJAC honors in addition to being named to the NSCAA All-Region squad in 2005. Owen ranks in the Top eight in several career categories, including third in goals against average (0.97) and second in shutouts (21) while registering 226 saves and 33 victories from 2001-2005. Following his playing career Owen spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the men’s team helping Montclair State to two NJAC Championships as well as two appearances in the NCAA Sweet 16 (2006, 2008) and a trip to the NCAA Elite 8 in 2007. During this same time period, Owen was active in coaching with the Wycoff Soccer Club where he worked with the Under 15 Boys as a head coach and with the Under 15 Girls as an assistant coach.  He also served as the Goalkeeper Coach for the Parsippany Soccer Club.  Owen, who received his BA in Justice Studies/Sociology from Montclair State University in 2006, played at Pompton Lakes High School where he holds the single-season shutout record. He was named All-Conference, All-County, and All-State with the Cardinals.  Owen played his club soccer with PDA representing the club in both state and regional tournaments.
