Montclair State University Athletics

Steve Sciarappa enters his 10th season with the Red Hawks and serves as the Special Teams Coordinator and Safeties Coach in addition to his Associate Head Coach role. 

Steven Sciarappa is an experienced coach and educational administrator with 11 seasons of experience in NCAA Division I and Division III athletics, alongside extensive executive leadership in K-12 education. Coach Sciarappa joined Montclair State University in the spring of 2016 after serving as an offensive assistant at Monmouth University. He currently works with the defensive unit, coaching safeties and special teams, after previously serving as the program's offensive coordinator. He has produced an all-conference player in his position group or unit every season since joining Montclair State, and he helped capture the 2021 NJAC North Conference Championship.

Additionally, Sciarappa coached high school football at several institutions, including Donovan Catholic and Mater Dei Prep, where he served simultaneously as Head Coach and Principal. As Head Coach at Mater Dei Prep, he was named the 2013 Star-Ledger Monmouth County Coach of the Year while leading the program to three consecutive playoff appearances. Alongside his athletic accomplishments, Sciarappa held executive leadership roles in school administration—including Director of Campus Schools and Principal at Mater Dei Prep—where he spearheaded the institution's structural transition to a prep school model and launched several key strategic curricular initiatives.

Coach Sciarappa earned his bachelor's degree in Biology from Stockton University and a master's degree in Educational Leadership Management and Policy from Seton Hall University.
